About UsThe Wemyss Bight Community Library was established in 2004 by a local business woman from the settlement of Wemyss Bight. Mrs. Clara Williams saw the importance of investing in the educational growth of today's youths. Today, the library provides a space for lifelong learning in the community.

Our Vision |
Our vision for the library is to build it to a level where it stands as a place of educational enrichment by its wide and diverse availability of information, a driving force behind ideas and a place of socialization, interaction and shared creativity. The library is not just a place to house books, but an advanced learning center where children have accessibility to after school tutoring, computers equipped with internet access, book clubs and resources for research including a full line of encyclopedias, audio and visual equipment.
The Mission of our library is to provide all students with a high quality education in reading. We seek to create an environment that achieves equality for all students and to insure that each student is a successful learner, is fully respected and learns to respect others. |
Our History |
The library building was once the old teacher's residence in front of the Wemyss Bight Primary School. It was initially a three bedroom house. With permission from Mr. Smith, the District Superintendent Officer with the Ministry of Education, we have made a once deteriorating building into a beautiful library by cooperatively working as a team.

Our Coordinator
Ms. Clara Williams is the library coordinator.
I carry out the administrative work and reports for funding and donorship. I have implemented the Dewey Decimal System in the library and created the summer youth programs. I prepare the lunch and organize the island-wide tour for the summer youth program as well. |
